Personnel Requirements:

Note: We have grouped the players into categories labeled, Lead Characters (LC), Supporting Characters (SC), Minor Characters (MC) and Extra Characters (EC).

It's Not About Love is comprised of 29 characters that can be portrayed using as little as 22 players. Of the 29 characters, 11 have speaking parts, 10 have singing parts. Five characters sing the lead in at least one song, and 5 sing bit parts. In addition, most of the characters on stage sing to the choruses in the Grand Open and Grand Finale.

Four of the characters are children (2 boys and 2 girls). One boy and one girl have speaking and singing parts in two scenes (SC). The other boy and girl stand motionless and merely turn slowly on cue in the Grand Open (MC). By dressing them differently, one boy and one girl may be double cast.

Although the 2 Lead Characters (LC) do the majority of the singing, a boy and a girl (SC) together sing three songs. Six adults who are also Supporting Characters (SC) sing bit parts and harmony. One Supporting Character (SC) sings a song by herself.

The 12 media representatives in the Grand Open sing to the choruses (MC). The entire cast sings the choruses in the Grand Finale.

Two Minor Characters (MC) play servers and 12 Extra Characters (EC) are patrons of the club café “HATS.”

Note: Sponsors or someone they appoint may serve as patrons (EC) in the club café.

A guest comedian or other local talent may be featured as an entertainer in the club café at the opening and/or closing of appropriate scenes. For example, a scene in the club café can open as a comedian tells a final joke in his or her act.
