America is comprised of 50 independent States that have banded together for their individual and collective good. When stacked against history, as countries go, we are a relatively youthful nation. Although we have accomplished much in our two hundred plus years, we are at a crossroads.
If history is our teacher, we know all countries eventually fail. Typically, the great nations self-destruct and reorganize wherein they lose any resemblance of their original self.
Some people say change is good. However, unguided change is dangerous because eventually it will take you to a place where you don't want to be. Case in point, the social experiment conducted over the last 50 years in which the two-parent family was replaced by single parent households has brought about great changes in America.
Our ancestors were honorable, hard-working, self-reliant, neighborly and patriotic. In just 50 years, these virtues have been replaced by self-indulgence, laziness, an “I am a victim” mentality in which we are quick to blame others for our mistakes, mindlessness and mediocrity.
The social and economic consequences of discouraging the “two-parent family” in favor of the “single parent household” is not just the limitation of our individual and collective potential. America is now 20 trillion dollars in debt. Soon the Dollar will collapse and our civilization will implode. It turns out the phrase “family values” is not just a feel-good political slogan. It is a battle cry to save America and our civilization.
A strong family unit is key to the success of any nation including America. Family values begins with our children understanding love and marriage. If we are to succeed, everyone, including the State Legislature, Congress and the Executive branch, will need to do their part.
